OUR STORY

Some things are best kept simple. We are a family-rooted bakery built on one belief that has been passed down to us since childhood, that food is the greatest way to give.

Growing up, our home was always full of something warm. There was never a weekend without a fresh loaf, a home-cooked meal, or something coming out of the oven that filled the whole house. Our parents had a way of turning food into generosity, they would make large pizzas from scratch and give us to take to our neighbors, not because it was a special occasion, but because that’s just who they were. Giving was the norm. Sharing was the language.

That spirit never left us. What we discovered early on is that the moment someone tastes something made with real care, something shifts. You see it on their face. That moment, that reaction, is what drives everything we do.

For years, food was something we shared at gatherings, events, and through friends and family. The response was always the same “why don’t you open a store?" We heard it so many times it became impossible to ignore. A brick-and-mortar storefront isn’t where we are right now, but we refused to let that stop us. So instead, we made a decision: we would bring the store to you.

You can find Timgad Cookies & Co. at some of Boston’s most beloved markets and community spaces, including Brighton Bazaar, SoWa Market, and the Neighborhood Market in Boston’s South End.

When you find us, you’ll find more than cookies. We offer:

• A Full Espresso Cart- Specialty lattes crafted to complement everything on our menu including our iced coffee, a drink with roots as deep as our own. Iced coffee is believed to have originated in Algeria in the 1800s, making every cold cup we serve a quiet nod to home.

• Stuffed cookies- Baked fresh, thick, gooey, and made to order. The chocolate chip cookie was born right here in Massachusetts, and we like to think that makes Boston the perfect place to do them justice.

• Viennoiserie’s- Buttery, laminated pastries made the traditional way

• Sandwiches on homemade breads- Think fresh focaccia and croissant loaves made in-house

WHY TIMGAD

The name is not an accident. Many ask me Why Timgad?

Timgad is an ancient Roman city founded in 100 AD by Emperor Trajan in what is now northeastern Algeria. It was built as a military colony; precise, intentional, and perfectly planned from its very foundation. At its heart stood a triumphal arch, colonnaded streets, a library, a theatre, and public baths. It was a city that was meant to last.

And then it was buried. For centuries, Timgad disappeared beneath the Saharan sand , not destroyed, not erased, but waiting. When archaeologists uncovered it in the 18th century, they found it remarkably intact. The streets were still there. The arch still stood. The foundations had held.

That is the story behind our name.

We chose Timgad because it represents something we deeply believe in; that what is built with intention and care does not disappear. It endures. It gets uncovered. It stands.

For us, Timgad is a reminder that the things worth building take time. That roots matter. That a foundation laid with purpose, whether it is a city, a family, or a small bakery, has a way of outlasting everything that tries to bury it.

We are a small operation with a big belief; that food made with love, offered with generosity, and rooted in something real will always find its way to the people who need it.
